1 Have passion and imagination.

2 Buy secondhand equipment to start with or hire it.

3 Get to know your camera, learn to use it in manual mode first.

4 Digital cameras make this easier so just experiment.

5 Write things down about exposures, shutter speeds, lighting etc.

6 Take shots of moving cars experiment with shutter speeds.

7 Start in a park with sunrise and sunset light conditions see the difference.

8 Take pictures of your family inside and out, try different light conditions/ flash.

9 Enter competitions when you can.

10 Eventually try for a job as a cadet with a local newspaper.
